1. What is your name? Dorothy Longnecker
2. What is your place of residence? White Oak
3. Where did you grow up? Maxwell
4. What is, or was, your occupation? Homemaker
5. What did you always want to do, but never had the chance? I wish I had learned to play piano and to swim. I had the chance probably, but didn't take advantage of it.
6. What news story has most captured your attention in recent weeks? The death of the coach at Parkersburg.
7. What are you favorite pizza toppings? Mushrooms and extra cheese
8. What song takes you back to your high school days? Big Band music (graduated in 1947)
9. What is your favorite TV show? "Jeopardy"
10. What is your favorite community activity? The White Oak neighborhood picnic. This year's picnic is Sunday, July 12, starting around 5 p.m., at Charlie and Mary Campbell's shed.
11. What meal do you like best at suppertime? Mashed potatoes with homemade beef and noodles.
12. Besides Iowa, what's your favorite state in the union and why? I've been to Alaska and it was really beautiful. Hawaii, too, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm happy in White Oak.
13. What's your favorite season of the year and why? Fall, the leaves, the colors, it's a cooling down time.
14. Do you lean more toward chocolate or peanut butter? Chocolate
15. What's your favorite outdoor activity? Sitting in my lawn chair and watching birds
16. Which of the presidents of the United States is most intriguing to you? Abraham Lincoln, he had such a humble upbringing, but yet became a great president.
17. What's your favorite sport to watch on TV? Basketball
18. What's the best movie of all time? "The Titanic"
19. What saying do the people who know you hear often? "Goodness gracious"
20. What was your favorite subject in school? Spelling, and definitely not math
21. What could the community where you live really use? We've talked about stoplights, but I don't know that we really need them. We're a pretty nice neighborhood.
22. What's the best book or article you've read this year? Just finished a good book called "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. It was about the Mt. Everest tragedy. Of course, the Bible is always the best book to read.
23. What's one of your fondest childhood memories? My first trip to the Iowa State Fair, and I also enjoyed a train trip with my mother to Seattle, Wash.
24. What's one thing you love about summer? We don't have to dress in heavy winter clothes, and I like cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables.
25. Who are the members of your family? Husband, Wesley; children, Barb and Terry Welch, Wayne and Pat Longnecker, Mark and Starla Longnecker, Kristi Malone, Amy and Bill Boggs; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren
