2. Town where you live: Collins
3. Where did you grow up? Britt, home to "Hobo Days."
4. What is your occupation? Collins city clerk
5. What do you wish was (or had been) your occupation? Author, poet
6. What is your favorite TV show? Home remodeling, DIY programs
7. What kind of music do you like to listen to? Comtemporary Christian, classical piano and jazz
8. If you could live in any other state, which state would you live and why? Anywhere with less humidity and ice!
9. What's your favorite season of the year and why? Spring, a very hopeful, fresh-start time of year
10. What makes a person a success? Living a life of intentional awareness and empathy for others, including family
11. Would you rather get a birthday card from a loved one, or a birthday phone call? A card with a personal note I can read and re-read.
12. What hobbies or pastimes do you enjoy most? Reading, creating "granny-beads" costume jewelry
13. What's your favorite color and why? Brown, maybe it reminds me of a really great cup of coffee or a dark chocolate bar.
14.Would you rather live in a very old house with lots of character or a new house where everything worked perfectly? I know it's too much to ask - how about an old house (like mine) where everything works (not like mine).
15. What's the best book you've read in the last few years?  "The Shack" by William Paul Young
16. Who do you admire most in your community? Several who quietly work behind the scenes serving others
17. Who are the members of your family? Hubby, John; daughter, Gina; son-in law, Danny; Grandkids, Hailey and Hayden, who live in Brighton, Co., Patrick, who lives in Ankeny and attends DMACC; Jonathan, C-M senior planning to attend Central in Pella, Katelyn, 9th grade, Tessa, 8th grade.
18. What's your favorite thing to eat with chocolate in it? Tootsie Rolls and Hershey's Special Dark
19. What was the best present you received as a child? A Barbie doll, I learned to sew by making her clothes.
20. Did you have a teacher who inspired you and how? Yes, an American history teacher my junior year. He saw potential and gently goaded me into taking school more seriously.
21. What place in the world have you not visited, but would most like to visit? Anywhere, although a good book works and costs less
22. Did you ever learn to play a musical instrument? I play the piano, for my ears only!!
23. Do you love waking up in the morning or hate waking up in the morning? Love is a strong word, but yes in the morning, every day is another opportunity to matter to someone else.
24. What's one of your fondest childhood memories? Making tents, with lots of rooms, using sheets and blankets on the clothesline
25. What's one thing you like about April? In April, nature moves from bland to brilliant.
