Nevada took a 4-1 lead after four innings and then held on to upset the 10th-ranked team in Class 3A for its second-straight victory.
"We continue to get good pitching, great defense and timely hitting," Nevada head coach Brad Cross said. "I can't say enough about this team; Perry was ranked 10th in the state last week, but these guys knew they could win. It's the best baseball I've seen Nevada play - a perfect senior night."
Ross Van Allen threw a one-hitter through five innings and then he worked out of a jam in the sixth, giving up just one run in the inning despite allowing three hits. Nick Sutton then came in to shut down Perry in the seventh to pick up the save as Nevada improved to 6-18 on the season and 3-11 in the Raccoon River Conference.
Van Allen ended up allowing two earned runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings, while Sutton gave up one hit and tallied one strikeout. In the field, the Cubs turned in their second consecutive error-free game, while catcher Alex Cross threw out three runs and shortstop Ty Borton tallied four putouts and three assists.
Offensively, Tyler Olson was 2-for-2 with a run, walk and RBI, Curtis Borts had an RBI double and Cole Sheets and Trevor Davis each singled in a run. Matt Bosworth tripled and scored Nevada's first run in the first inning before leaving the game with an injury he suffered trying to make a diving catch in center field.

NEVADA - Nevada suffered two tough losses in opposite fashion in a doubleheader with Winterset July 8 at Billy Sunday Field in Nevada.
The Cubs dropped the opener by a 5-3 score after falling behind 5-0 after two innings. In the nightcap, Nevada took a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning, only to see Winterset plate three runs to hand the Cubs a 3-2 setback.
The first game saw Nevada score three runs in the top of the sixth to pull within striking distance, but the Cubs couldn't finish the deal in an evenly played game.
"It was an excellent game with great defense by both teams," Nevada head coach Brad Cross said. "Every run was earned."
Ross Van Allen doubled in Matt Bosworth and Nick Sutton in the sixth for Nevada after Bosworth and Sutton both singled, then Ty Borton singled in Allen with two outs for the final Cub run. Curtis Borts ended up 2-for-3 as the leading Cub hitter in the game.
Van Allen took the loss despite dominating the final four innings. He gave up seven hits in six innings of work.
In the nightcap, Nevada took a 1-0 lead in the first when Bosworth doubled and scored on a single by Van Allen. In the sixth, Alex Cross singled and courtesy runner Mike Chisholm scored on a two-out single by Cole Sheets.
But then Winterset answered with its comeback in the seventh, and Nevada didn't have a response, ending up with the loss.
"It was a heartbreaker," Cross said. "We pitched great, had great defense and manufactured runs. Give Winterset credit - they came back - but I can't help but be pleased with our play the last few weeks."
Van Allen was 2-for-3 with an RBI; Cross singled, walked and scored; Bosworth walked twice and doubled and Sheets had a hit, walk and RBI for Nevada in the loss. Bosworth was the losing pitcher, despite giving up just one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks in six innings, while Sutton allowed one hit and no runs in one inning of relief.
