The series, with a field of 10 teams, will begin play on Saturday and will continue for the full week.
All the teams at this level are tough but it appears the Des Moines Area Community Bears will open play with one of the better teams in the tournament.
The Bears, the North Plains Regional representative, will match up with the Plains Regional winner, Western Oklahoma State College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
DMACC has a record of 54-9 and was third rated nationally in the final poll while Western Oklahoma State, 49-13, was rated fifth.
The other series qualifiers are Scottsdale Community College of Arizona, 36-20; Kankakee Community College of Illinois, 48-12-1; Parkland College of Illinois, 44-9; Kellogg Community College of Michigan, 30-19; the defending championship team from Louisiana State University at Eunice, 48-10; Lurleen B. Wallace Community College of Alabama, 47-9; Monroe Community College of New York, 27-17; and Allegany College of Maryland, 49-13.
Louisana State at Eunice was the top-rated team in the final poll while Lurleen Wallace was second, DMACC third, Western Oklahoma State fifth, Parkland sixth, Allegany eighth, Kankakee 11th and Scottsdale 12th.
Kellogg and Monroe did not receive votes in the final poll.
No smooth sailing is set for the Bears. Should they win their opening game Saturday, they could possibly meet LSU Eunice at noon Monday.
LSU Eunice opens tourney play at 4 p.m. Saturday against Monroe and the winner would advance to play the DMACC-Western Oklahoma winner.
A Bears loss in their opener would move them to a Sunday game at 7 p.m.
