"This was a good meet for the girls," said Algona Coach Jim Fisher. "Just 10 days ago we came up with the same score against Spencer but lost by 26 points to Storm Lake. This shows how hard the girls have worked to get ready for the meet."
Top performances came from Kendall Bosch with a second overall in the IM and Hanna Degen with a runner-up in 100-yard free. Other top finishes against Storm Lake included Amber Schacherer with a second in the 200 free and the 100 backstroke.
Nicole Kenne was second in the 500 free and Alyssa Williams was also second in the 200 IM and won the 100 butterfly. The 200 medley relay of Missy Zadow, Hannah Priest, Jenni Weaver and Bosch were also runner-ups.
Third place finishes went to other 200 medley relay team of Logan Egland, Liz Humble, Deb Weideman and Williams. Mackenzie Wilson in the 100 butterfly, Humble in the 500, Zadow in the 100 breaststroke and the 400 free relay of Humble Weideman, Williams and Schacherer also were third.
Other first place winners included Williams in the 100 butterfly, the 200 free relay of Priest, Weaver, Bosch and Degen, Priest in the 100 breaststroke and the 400 free relay of Wilson, Weaver, Bosch and Degen.
"By looking at these performances we had a good night," said Coach Fisher. "We had some personal best times tonight from Bosch and Degen. Also every event took from one second to as much as six seconds off their time from 10 days ago."
Junior varsity first place finishers were Michaela Christians in the 500, Nicole Person in the 100 backstroke, the 200 medley relay of Person, Kenne, Christians and Wilson and the 200 free relay of Person, Egland, Kenne and Christians.
The split brings the swim team's record to 3-5 this season. The team travels to Perry Monday and Charles City on Tuesday in their next action.
