ALGONA-A little magic from Las Vegas will make its way to Bode on August 1.
Dan Sperry, professional magician from Las Vegas, will be the performer at Uffda Days in Bode.
Sperry began his career as a magician at the age of 10, in Witchfield, Minn.
"I primarily did birthday parties with a lot of close-up magic," Sperry said. "From that, I've grown to doing magic shows for schools and assemblies and kept growing from there."
Sperry isn't able to make the trek to home that often, and the show is a chance for him to do so.
"I love performing for small towns, because they're a lot more fun of an audience to perform to and can be more appreciative than larger venues and cities," said Sperry.
Sperry was referred to the Uffda Days committee when Reza, of South Dakota, had to back out of performing.
Sperry has been performing in Las Vegas for the past five years.
"I was one of the youngest magicians to headline at the Magic Castle," Sperry said. "The Magic Castel is a 21 and over magic club, and I performed there when I was 17."
Sperry has also performed for Johnny Depp's kids, on the Las Vegas strip, done a show in Athens, Greece, and did an 88-show, six week tour of Canada.
He was featured on the television show Masters of Illusion and Fox's World Magic Awards for being the most original magician.
When Sperry flies into Bode, he will also be bringing with him an act he doesn't perform everywhere he goes.
"I'll be bringing my birds with me," Sperry said. "I make birds appear and disappear, and it's something I normally reserve for my Las Vegas show and more exclusive clients."
Sperry also said he will feature a lot of audience participation.
"There's bound to be something to entertain all ages who comes to my show," Sperry said.
