Brown, an insurance agent who served on the board for six years (2002-2007), said that her name, reputation and business were damaged by the letter.
In a document filed by attorney Kelly Mahoney, of the Boone law firm of Jordan & Mahoney, Brown accuses Woodruff of "falsely accus(ing) Brown of wrongdoing and of lying" in connection with actions taken as a board member during a dispute in the district over construction projects and contracts at the new Ames Middle School and Ames High School.
Woodruff's response, filed by Des Moines attorney Michael Mock, of the firm of Bradshaw, Fowler, Proctor & Fairgrave, denies Brown's allegations.
Both parties are demanding a jury trial.
