Documents detail charges against alleged stalker

Court documents filed in the cases against Brandon Tyerman, a Johnston man charged with stalking, burglary and 65 counts of violation of a no-contact or protective order, provide more details into the charges against him.

According to a petition for relief from domestic abuse filed against him by his wife, Jamie Tyerman, in Dallas County April 29, the relationship between the two became strained in January, after she told Brandon she wanted a divorce. On April 28, Brandon, who was in the process of shutting down a business he owned, allegedly put Jamie in a chokehold twice and told her that he was going to kill her.

Jamie Tyerman subsequently moved away from Brandon Tyerman and into the Colo-area home of her father, Jim Collins. On May 16, Collins called Story County Sheriff's Deputies and reported that he'd seen Brandon Tyerman walking in a ditch near his home. Deputies were unable to locate Brandon Tyerman, but learned during interviews with Jamie Tyerman that he'd been calling and text messaging her in violation of the no-contact order, even once posing as a Dallas County deputy when calling her at work so she would pick up the phone and speak to him.

Story County deputies were again called to the Collins home May 18, when a suspicious car was found on the premises. Investigators were unable to find anyone near the car, but upon searching the premises they found Brandon Tyerman hiding in the bathroom of a camper that was being stored on the property. Brandon Tyerman was apparently sleeping when they found him.

Brandon Tyerman was arrested on charges of violating a no-contact order. As part of a follow-up investigation, deputies found a tracking device in Jamie Tyerman's car. They also inventoried the car Brandon Tyerman was thought to have been driving and found a handgun case and a box of 9 mm bullets, but no handgun.

The most recent charge of going armed with intent stems from an incident after Brandon Tyerman was released. On June 5, a witness reportedly met with Brandon Tyerman on the Collins property. The witness reportedly saw Brandon Tyerman with a handgun.

Brandon Tyerman is currently in the Story County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He initially posted a lower $25,000 bond and was released, but was arrested in the parking lot by Story County Sheriff's Deputies on another warrant. Story County Attorney Stephen Holmes then asked a court judge to set Brandon Tyerman's bail higher.

Law enforcement officials with the county have said that they are concerned that Brandon Tyerman could be dangerous and have tried to keep him in jail to protect the victim in the case.
