Another hearing will be scheduled to determine his status.
The 20-year-old junior defensive lineman and defensive MVP of the Houston Bowl was cited at Club Element, 2401 Chamberlain St., Jan. 30 for minor on premises. He was on probation after spending 258 days in the Story County Jail in 2004 for assault and theft charges.
Following his citation, the Iowa Department of Correctional Services, which was overseeing his probation, alerted the Story County Attorney's office of a violation.
In 2004, Berryman pleaded guilty to beating up an ISU student and taking $4 from him and taking a cell phone from another student. That happened 10 days after he pleaded guilty to 5th degree criminal mischief for breaking the window of an automobile owned by a female acquaintance.
If his probation is revoked, penalties for Berryman could range from no sanctions, community service or to further jail time.
