Brian Haferbier, 34, of Ames, was finishing up a milk delivery for the Anderson Erickson Dairy at the Gilbert Elementary School at 5:40 a.m. this morning when a man in his late 20s confronted him with a knife, the Story County Sheriff's Office said.
The man demanded money from Haferbier, who gave him the cash he had. The man then ran away.
The man is described as about 5 foot, 10 inches tall, around 200 pounds and was wearing blue jeans, a dark stocking cap, a dark-hooded zip-up sweatshirt and white athletic shoes.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Story County Sheriff's Office at 382-6566.
